Police: Suspects At Large After Man Walking On Westbury Street Is Assaulted

A man had his leg broken by two men after being assaulted while taking an early morning walk on Long Island, police said.

The Hispanic man was walking in Westbury on Rutland Street at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24 when he was approached from behind by two African Americans, Nassau County police investigators said.

According to police, the two suspects struck the victim from behind with a blunt object in his lower right leg before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. No further information regarding the suspects was available.

The victim suffered a compound fracture of his leg and was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation.
